GG’s Mandel Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ lb margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 lemon, rind only
  • 5½ oz package finely chopped nuts

Instructions

  • Mix together flour, baking powder and baking soda.
  • In a separate bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and lemon rind. Add flour, baking powder and baking soda mixture gradually. Mix well. Add nuts.
  • Chill in small covered dish overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 325° F.
  • Cut chilled dough into 4 strips and make 4 rolls.
  • Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Slice rolls while hot.
  • Bake again on sides for 10 minutes.

    Hello, I had another recipe for mandelbrot and it called for only oil and it was hard to handle. This was easier. Thank you
