Marduma

Marduma – an Israeli Salsa

Ingredients

  • 3-4 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp bell pepper, cut into small pieces
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, drained
  • hot, dry red chili peppers (4-5 for spicy, fewer for mild)
  • salt, pepper, spicy paprika, mixed to taste
  • 1 Tbsp chicken flavored soup powder

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a medium sauce pan (non stick pan works best).

  • Add the bell and dry peppers and sauté on medium heat.

  • When peppers are begin to brown, add tomatoes and spices.

  • Cook on low heat for about half hour, stirring often.

  • Marduma is ready when there is no liquid left and the tomatoes are soft.

Notes

Serve cold with white or whole wheat Pita wedges.
