Chocolate Pecan Cookies

WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE: This recipe was often made by Phyllis Sandock, my mother-in-law, well over 60 years ago. She did not particularly enjoy cooking even thought she had a number of excellent recipes. This was one. I treasure this very uncommon cookie recipe because it was hers and because it is so very good.

Chocolate Pecan Cookies

Servings: 3 dozen

Ingredients

  • 3 1 oz. squares unsweetened chocolate
  • ⅛ lb butter
  • ½-¾ lb pecan pieces or small whole pecans
  • 1 can condensed milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Melt chocolate and butter over low heat or in the top of a double boiler.
  • Add condensed milk. Blend well and continue cooking until thick and soft form, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Add pecans. Cool slightly.
  • Drop by spoonfuls onto a buttered baking sheet or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 12-14 minutes. Cool before serving.

Notes

This reicpe card is over 60 years old - well loved and well used by my MIL and by me.
