Beverly Miller’s Passover Brownies

WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE:  These brownies made with Passover cake meal are a family favorite. They love them because they are moist and cake-like.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup cake meal
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 rounded tsp cocoa
  • ½ cup water or milk
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped pecans or walnuts. (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cream shortening in mixer.
  • Add sugar and mix well.
  • Then add eggs.
  • Add dry ingredients & water (or milk).
  • Stir in chopped nuts, if using.
  • Pour into a 8 x 8 pan.
  • Bake between 30-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

If you keep kosher or have a dairy allergy, using shortening, like Crisco, and water rather than milk are good options.
