WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE: These brownies made with Passover cake meal are a family favorite. They love them because they are moist and cake-like.
Beverly Miller's Passover Brownies

Ingredients
- ½ cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 cup cake meal
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 rounded tsp cocoa
- ½ cup water or milk
- 1 cup nuts, chopped pecans or walnuts. (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream shortening in mixer.
- Add sugar and mix well.
- Then add eggs.
- Add dry ingredients & water (or milk).
- Stir in chopped nuts, if using.
- Pour into a 8 x 8 pan.
- Bake between 30-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Notes
If you keep kosher or have a dairy allergy, using shortening, like Crisco, and water rather than milk are good options.
