WHY I LOVE THIS RECIPE: A meal in one. Serve with our without the Walnut Sauce
Matzah Spiced Pie for Passover
Ingredients
- olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp aleppo pepper
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp cumin
- ¼ tsp allspice
- 3-4 matzah boards
- 1 egg, beaten with a fork
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Grease an 8 inch square cake pan.
- Run hot water over matzah boards and shake off excess. Line the greased cake pan with matzah boards. Break pieces to fit.
- Saute onion and carrots in a little olive oil until tender. Move to bowl.
- Brown ground meat until cooked. Add remaining spices.
- Add the onions and carrots to the meat. Press into the pan with matzah board. Brush with egg mixture just until coated.
- Bake until browned, about 30 minutes. Check at 20 to see how it is browning.
- You can serve this with Walnut Green Sauce
