Buttermilk Pie

This is an uncomplicated recipe that is unusual and really delicious.

- 1 10" unbaked pie shell
- 7¼ oz sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ oz flour
- 4 egg yolks
- 4 oz melted butter
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 4 egg whites
Preheat oven to 325° F.
Combine sugar, salt, flour and mix well.
Mix slightly beaten egg yolks, melted butter, buttermilk and vanilla then blend into the sugar mixture.
Beat egg whites until they form moist peaks and fold into the custard mixture. Stir only until the egg whites are dissolved.
Pour into pie shell and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the top is crusty and brown.
