1
bottle inexpensive wine
½
cup
brandy
½
cup
orange-flavored liquor, such as Grand Mariner, Triple Sec, etc.
1½
cups
any combination of fresh fruits cut into bite sized pieces (apples, oranges, berries, peaches or plums)
Sugar, agave or simple syrup to taste, if desired
3
cups
sparkling water
Ice
Instructions
Mix wine, brandy, chopped fruit, and sweetener (if using) in a pitcher. Chill for at least 6 hours.
When ready to serve, add ice to glasses, top sangria with sparkling water or seltzer. Pour into glasses and add fruits as a garnish.
Notes
I really think of Sangria as a mix and match drink. It is very forgiving as long as you have the basic ingredients.
